How do we ever get to hear the truth when the Rupert Murdoch owns the major Tasmanian Newspapers and a lobbyist with ties to the liberal government is buying up the local community newspapers?

The Tasmanian inquirer follows the big public interest political and environmental travesties but it seems gets regularly disinvited from liberal media events.

Most good people who want it to be better are pretty busy with their own lives and rely on news outlets to rigorously keep us informed. Even ABC has gone very soft on the liberals this election, and Google paid the Tasmanian liberal government $22K and nobody knows why. https://tasmanianinquirer.com.au/news/google-australia-paid-22000-to-the-tasmanian-liberals-but-wont-say-why/

Several years ago an advertising firm was paid $1 million dollars to get the Tasmanian public excited about the Marinus link deal via spin not facts. And here we are with the a big cohort of Tasmanians who get their news from Murdoch thinking it is a fabulous idea without knowing anything about the business case.

Someone does really well from all this but it isn’t the Tasmanian taxpayer.

The Tasmanian times is independent and seems to be restructuring as a not for profit entity. https://tasmaniantimes.com/

The bottom line is that the things that make life better for ordinary Tasmanians are not a priority for the Liberal Government and secrecy is vital to their ongoing wheeling and dealing.

Imagine what $1 million would have done for honest, independent journalism in that time.

It is a mess, but ordinary people don’t want to see the same mess when we vote in 4 years time. We need more honest independent competent people with experience in running things to step into the fray. If you know anyone like that now is the time to encourage them to stand.
